Victim dies and suspect arrested in Boone County shooting

MADISON, W.Va. — One man is dead and another has been charged with murder in Boone County.

State Police say Cody Wayne Miller, 32, of Danville died of gunshot wounds at a local hospital Friday night. Miller had been discovered lying along the road near the intersection of U.S. Route 119 in the Julian community. Initially it was reported that a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

Troopers soon developed a suspect and arrested Shane Justice, 26, of Julian later Friday after a high speed chase. Justice is charged with murder, wanton endangerment, and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

Investigator say they believe Miller and Justice knew one another and had been together earlier in the day. Indications are Miller was shot standing next to Justice’s vehicle or actually inside the vehicle with him.

He remains jailed without bond.
