Delegate introduces resolution preventing youth from gender reassignment, hormone procedures

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Berkeley County lawmaker has introduced a measure aimed at limiting gender reassignment surgeries and hormone health therapies to adults.

House Bill 4609 would prevent such procedures for people younger than 18 years old.

Delegate Marshall Wilson, I-Berkeley, said such decisions should be limited to “thoughtful adults.”

The bill also states parents and guardians of minors seeking such procedures may not consent on behalf of children.
