Huntington city councilmember resigns

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Huntington City Councilmember Alec Vence announced Tuesday his resignation from the city council.

Vence, in a letter to Huntington City Council Chairman Mark Bates, said his resignation stems from his personal and business life, including a second child.

The city announced Tuesday anyone interested in serving in the position can apply until 4:30 p.m on Feb. 26. Applicants must be a qualified elector and resident of the city’s 3rd District.

The City Clerk’s Office will handle the application process, including providing the documents to interested candidates.
