University strengthens hold on top spot in MetroNews Power Index

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — For the third consecutive week, University leads the way in the MetroNews Boys Basketball Power Index. The Hawks (17-3) defeated Morgantown Saturday in the OVAC Championship game. UHS has spent four weeks on top of the index this season.

Cabell Midland (18-2), Hedgesville (16-3), Morgantown (15-3) and Martinsburg (15-3) complete the top five.

Shady Spring (19-1), Wheeling Park (14-5), Chapmanville (18-2), Robert C. Byrd (16-2) and North Marion (18-3) occupy spots six through ten.

Greater Beckley Christian (17-4) is the leader among Class A schools in 18th. Pendleton County (16-0) is the lone unbeaten team remaining. The Wildcats check in at No. 45.
