Separate southern West Virginia accidents claim lives

FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. — Two separate accidents in southern West Virginia in less than 24 hours claimed lives.

On Monday evening, authorities said a woman died after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run around 11:20 p.m. on Legend’s Highway in the Hilltop area.

After being taken to a local hospital, Brandi Jo Miller, 28, of Hilltop, was pronounced dead. According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, the driver of the vehicle drove off north toward Oak Hill just after the pedestrian was struck.

On Tuesday, a two-vehicle accident near Bramwell in Mercer County sent multiple people to the hospital and left one person dead.

Authorities said the crash occurred along Route 52 around 4 p.m. where two people were med-flighted to Roanoke and others were transported to Bluefield Regional Medical Center.

The West Virginia State Police is leading the investigation.
