One dead in Wayne County restaurant shooting

LAVALETTE, W.Va. — An employee of Tudor’s Biscuit World in Wayne County was shot and killed inside the restaurant on Friday morning, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities said a man walked into the Lavalette restaurant and shot a woman around 9:40 on 5th Street Road and walked out.

She was pronounced dead on scene, inside the kitchen.

The suspect, who has not been identified, fled the scene to Cabell County where he was captured by West Virginia State Police, authorities said.

According to officials, the suspect is being interviewed in Cabell County and is expected to be arraigned in that county.

Tudor’s released a statement on Friday:

“We have been made aware of an incident that occurred this morning at the Tudor’s Biscuit World in Lavalette. Our concerns and prayers are with the family and coworkers of the victim, as well as the operators of that franchise. The business is cooperating with authorities and will remain closed for an indefinite time. For further information about the incident, please contact the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department.”
