DHHR: COVID-19 deaths climb in Jackson County

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — More than 10 percent of the people in Jackson County who have been known to contract the coronavirus have died.

New numbers posted Friday morning by the state Department of Health and Human Resources records two additional deaths in Jackson County, a 58-year-old man and an 86-year-old woman. That makes 15 deaths out of a total of 130 cases in Jackson County. The state has now had 46 deaths in connection with the pandemic.

The DHHR said 100 of the 130 cases in Jackson County are from the Eldercare nursing home in Ripley and 11 of the 15 deaths in the county from COVID-19 came from residents at that nursing home.
