Body recovered in Wayne County creek following search

WAYNE, W.Va. — The body of a Huntington man was recovered from Twelvepole Creek in Wayne County Sunday afternoon following a search that began Friday night.

According to state police, the body of Tyler Davis, 29, and his vehicle were found at around 1:30 p.m. A search initially began Friday night when a driver saw Davis’ vehicle go off of state Route 152 and into the creek. Davis was traveling south.

The search took place for a few hours Friday night, all day Saturday and resumed Sunday.

Troopers said the search was aided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers which held back water from East Lynn Lake to lower the water level on Twelvepole Creek.

State police are continuing their investigation into what may have caused the crash.

Firefighters from Wayne, East Lynn, Lavalette and West Hamlin were on the scene.
