MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Under normal circumstances most of us would never need to visit a food pantry. The past five weeks however have not been normal circumstances for anybody. A lot of people who just a few short weeks ago had good paying jobs are now trying to determine which way to turn and where their next meal will originate.
As part of the solution, West Virginia Radio Corporation, the parent company of MetroNews, along with Kroger, Pickering Associates, and the United Way have teamed up to use the power of a statewide reach to help.
“We were thinking how we could get involved and I started thinking about how many families went from a higher income to zero income. I also started thinking about how overwhelmed food pantries are going to be with all of these new families coming in,” said Rachelle Beatty, Corporate Promotions Director for West Virginia Radio Corporation.
The Country Roads Food Drive will be staged Tuesday, May 5, 2020. You can drop off non-perishable goods at drop-off points across the state of West Virginia.
“We have 18 drop off locations and we’re probably going to be adding more,” said Beatty.
According to Beatty they’re looking to replenish the shelves of of pantries all across the state with items they need.
“Non-perishable items, any kind of cleaning supplies, and any kind of hygiene products.”
