Man recovering after being shot in face

GREER, W.Va. — A Preston County man is in custody after allegedly shooting a man in the face.

According to Monongalia County sheriff’s deputies, William Shifflett, 73, of Masontown, shot a man in the face who was in a parking lot along state Route 7 Sunday morning.

Deputies said the victim was able to get in his car and fled the scene with Shifflett giving chase. Shifflett allegedly shot and the car before crashing.

The victim is hospitalized.

Shifflett has been charged with attempted murder, wanton endangerment and malicious assault.

The investigation is ongoing.
