CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) confirmed one additional COVID-19 related death on Wednesday night, bringing the statewide total to 51.
The DHHR said an 83-year old female from Berkeley County died as a result of the virus.
“It is with a heavy heart that we share the solemn news of another life lost to this pandemic. We extend our deepest sympathy to the family,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary.
The DHHR reported 28 new positive cases to bring the total to 1,276 and 301 additional tests from Wednesday morning bringing that total to 56,805. The state’s positive test rate is at 2.28.
716 cases in the state’s total have recovered, 475 are active.
Clay County’s first case was confirmed in Wednesday night’s numbers.
