CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The state Department of Health and Human Resources posted COVID-19 testing results from 123 nursing homes Saturday.
The testing began last month following an executive order from Gov. Jim Justice that all patients and staff and each= nursing home in the state be tested. The first governor in the U.S. to do so.
The numbers show more than 100 homes had no patients testing positive and only 25 homes had staff members test positive.
There were 68 positive patient cases at the Eldercare facility in Ripley, 39 at Sundale Nursing Home in Morgantown and 30 at the Wayne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wayne. All three homes also lead the way in the staff members testing positive.
Thirty-two of the state’s 53 COVID-19 deaths have occurred in nursing homes.
Meanwhile, the DHHR reported Saturday evening the state’s positive test rate for the coronavirus had dropped to 2.19 percent.
