Man arrested after beating, holding woman hostage

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — Parkersburg police arrested a man for allegedly beating and holding a woman hostage at an apartment.

Robert Leon Murphy Jr., 39, is accused of holding the woman hostage for around three hours at an apartment at 802 Quincy St. Tuesday evening. Murphy allegedly struck the woman multiple times, including with a gun, and cut her with a knife.

Murphy faces charges of kidnapping and malicious assault.
