Person dead after being struck by train

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A person died after being struck by a train in Charleston early Saturday morning.

According to Charleston police, a westbound CSX train hit the person near the intersection of South Park Road and Chesterfield Avenue in Kanawha City at around 2:25 a.m.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Charleston police were working to notify the person’s family before releasing the name.
