CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia now has 1,000 active COVID-19 cases in numbers released Thursday morning by the state Department of Health and Human Resources.
After nearly 196,000 tests recorded in the Mountain State since early March, the state has 1,000 active and 2,656 recovered cases. The number of active cases increased by 36 from Wednesday evening’s report. Active cases have nearly doubled in a week. They were at 580 at the end of the day on July 2.
The daily positive test rate dropped slightly Thursday morning to 4.40 percent. Hospitalizations held steady at 48 with deaths remaining at 95.
