No new date yet set for postponed National Scout Jamboree

FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. — The National Scout Jamboree won’t be happening as planned next July at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve located in Fayette County.

On Tuesday, the Boy Scouts of America announced the event was being postponed “given the current situation and uncertain nature of future conditions” in the coronavirus pandemic.

The original dates were July 21-31, 2021.

No new dates were immediately announced.

The Summit is the permanent home for the National Scout Jamboree.

The first National Scout Jamboree was held there in 2013.

The second National Scout Jamboree followed four years later.

In 2019, the Summit hosted the 24th World Scout Jamboree.

Officials with the BSA said work to put on the events for thousands of Scouts takes months and, in some cases, years.

A FAQ for those who had planned to attend the 2021 National Scout Jamboree was posted HERE.
