CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The state Department of Health and Human Resources announced a 99th death in West Virginia associated with COVID-19 Thursday morning.
An 84-year-old Jackson County man died, according to DHHR Secretary Bill Crouch.
“We join with the family in grieving the passing of this gentleman,” Crouch said.
The DHHR added 34 positive cases to its numbers Thursday morning. There have now been 4,591 confirmed cases by the state since the pandemic began. The state now lists active cases at 1,435. There were 564 active cases on July 1.
According to the DHHR, the state’s daily positive test rate for the virus is now 4.07 percent. The overall positive test rate after more than 218,000 tests given is 2.10 percent.
