Blaze claims life in Wayne County

WAYNE, W.Va. — A man died in a Thursday morning fire in Wayne County.

According to the state Fire Marshal’s Office, Larry Rice, 62, died in the residential fire at 33 Jericho Road.

Investigators said the cause of the fire was accidental. It was caused by a cigarette near an open oxygen tank.

The fire was reported at shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday.
