Editor’s note– Peep’s Place Child Care Center mentioned below was cleared for reopening Wednesday evening by the Harrison County Health Department following a deep cleaning.
CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Two child care operations in Harrison County and a youth baseball operation in Monongalia County are taking steps after positive COVID-19 cases.
Officials from the Harrison-Clarksburg Health Department said Wednesday Cubby’s Child Care in Bridgeport and Peep’s Place Child Care Center in Clarksburg are closed after one worker at each tested positive.
Health department officials learned of the cases last Friday and this past Monday.
Both businesses will close for five days for deep cleaning and disinfecting. Additionally, all staff members will required to take the COVID-19 test.
The employees are isolating and contact tracing is being conducted.
Little League shuts down
The 2020 WesMon baseball season in Monongalia County has been cancelled due to a positive COVID-19 test of a team manager.
According to league officials, the Minor Machine Pitch and Minor Kid Pitch divisions are impacted.
The league released the following statement Wednesday:
We regret to inform you that today we were notified that a team manager has tested positive for Covid-19. This has led to multiple players within the league being potentially exposed to the virus. Early contact tracing indicates minor machine pitch and minor kid pitch divisions are affected. We are currently working with the Mon County Health Department to complete contact tracing. Coordinators will be reaching out to the managers of affected teams asking them to do contact tracing within their teams. After careful consideration and talking with the Mon County Health Department the WesMon LL Board of Directors has voted to end the 2020 baseball season effective tonight.
