DHHR: COVID hospitalizations now at 108

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The state Department of Health and Human Resources added 93 positive COVID-19 cases to the state’s totals in the agency’s Saturday report.

The DHHR announced Friday that beginning Saturday there would only be one report issued a day. There have been two reports daily since soon after the pandemic began. The DHHR will be issuing the daily report at 10 a.m.

Saturday’s report put overall confirmed cases of COVID-19 since March at 6,735 which is 2.35 percent of the roughly 287,000 tests that have been given. The DHHR listed the daily positive test rate at 2.83 percent.

The state lists active cases at 1,761, up 157 cases from the day before.

Hospitalizations have continued to climb. There are now 108 people hospitalized, which is the highest number since the pandemic started. There are 39 patients in ICU and 18 patients on ventilators.

Deaths remained at 116 in Saturday’s report. There have been 13 deaths reported this week.
