Trial of former Marshall University student accused of two rapes continues

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Testimony was picking up for a second day on Tuesday morning in Cabell County Circuit Court where a former Marshall University student was on trial for two separate sexual assaults.

Chase Hardin

Joseph Chase Hardin, 22, stood accused of four counts of second-degree sexual assault for alleged assaults in 2018 on two women, fellow students who were 18 at the time.

At trial, the two women were only being identified by initials: RH and FC.

Hardin was expelled from Marshall last year following the allegations.

He previously entered a guilty plea to a misdemeanor battery charge following a sexual assault allegation in 2016.
