HUNTINGTON – For the second time this week, Marshall has announced changes to the 2020 football schedule, filling another hole in the schedule created by pandemic-related cancellations. The Herd will now open the 2020 season at home on Sept. 5 against Eastern Kentucky.
Marshall now has ten games scheduled with six of those at Joan C. Edwards Stadium.
“We’re happy to get that sixth home date on the schedule,” said Marshall Director of Athletics Mike Hamrick in a release. “Our players, coaches and staff are looking forward to hitting the Joan C. Edwards Stadium turf on September 5 to get the 2020 season underway.”
On Monday, Hamrick announced a home-and-home series with Appalachian State starting this season.
With the Western Athletic Conference and Mid-American Conference suspending fall sports, the Atlantic Coast Conferences travel restrictions and Old Dominion University opting to cancel the fall sports seasons, Marshall lost games Pitt, Boise State, Ohio and ODU.
Marshall and Eastern Kentucky last played in 2018.
The Colonels will play back to back games in the mountain state. The following week, EKU will travel to Morgantown to face West Virginia.
