New school bond in Cabell County passes

CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. — Voters in Cabell County have approved a more than $87 million school construction bond with funding for a series of projects including three new elementary schools.

Unofficial results from Saturday’s bond election showed 2,642 ballots were cast in favor of the bond while there were 939 votes against it.

The new bond, which Ryan Saxe, superintendent of schools in Cabell County, has called “the largest school bond in West Virginia’s history,” will replace a current bond when it expires next year.

Along with new elementary schools for Milton, Davis Creek and Meadows, bond money has been allocated for an expansion of the Cabell County Career Technology Center and renovations at other schools.
