Barbour County woman found guilty for killing husband

PHILIPPI, W.Va. — A Barbour County jury on Thursday found a woman guilty of second-degree murder after she fatally shot her husband.

The jury determined Carli Reed shot Marcus Fagons in August 2019.

Carli Reed (West Virginia Regional Jail and Correctional Facility Authority)

According to the original criminal complaint, Reed told authorities she and Fagons got into an argument before the shooting. She allegedly told a state trooper on the day of the shooting that she shot her husband.

Reed’s record showed she had suicidal thoughts and potentially could hurt herself or her husband. The jury also learned Reed described Fagons as mentally abusive.

A sentencing date has yet to be set.
