Hardin sentenced to at least 20 years in prison for sexual assault

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The former student at Marshall University who was found guilty of sexually assaulting one woman has been sentenced.

On Friday morning, Cabell County Judge Alfred Ferguson sentenced Chase Hardin to 10-25 years in prison on each of the two counts of second-degree sexual assault.

Hardin, 23, will serve at least 20 years consecutively and will be on supervision for 30 years upon release from prison and will be registered as a sex offender for life. The judge said Hardin isn’t a good candidate for probation.

In August, Hardin was found guilty of the two counts and not guilty on two other counts of sexual assault. The two convictions are connected to one victim while the two not guilty verdicts are connected to another alleged victim.

Both incidents occurred in 2018 on separate dates and both women were 18 at the time.
