DODDRIDGE COUNTY, W.Va. — The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Monday announced a nearly $8 million investment to increase broadband services in rural parts of West Virginia.
Citynet will receive a $7.6 million ReConnect grant for a fiber-to-the-premises network, which will connect more than 6,000 people in Barbour, Randolph, Webster and Doddridge counties.
The ReConnect Program is directed at expanding broadband infrastructure and services in rural areas.
The funding is part of a $550 million investment that Congress has allocated for a second round of the ReConnect Program.
