Family of former nursing home resident file lawsuit for incorrect death report

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The family of a former Sundale Nursing Home resident has filed a lawsuit against the nursing facility after officials erroneously reported the man had died from the coronavirus.

The family of Leonard Wolfe, a Preston County man, accuse the nursing home of incorrectly announcing the man’s death. Officials later corrected the report, blaming the error on miscommunication.

Wolfe later died from the coronavirus at a local hospital.

The family also accuse Sundale officials of failing to keep patient information secure and noted medical treatment related to trauma and distress from the incident.
