Former Mountaineer Jevon Carter inks new deal

— Story by Taylor Kennedy

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Former WVU men’s basketball and current Phoenix Suns guard Jevon Carter has landed a new deal staying in Phoenix.

Carter will receive a three-year, $11.5 million dollar deal. His signing with the Suns was first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

In his first season with the Suns, Carter improved in nearly every statistical category. He averaged five points while shooting 42%, two rebounds, and close to one steal a game. His best performance came in the NBA bubble when Carter scored 20 points and shot 7-10 (70%) from the field, including 6-8 (75%) from three-point range.

Mikal Bridges, former Villanova Wildcat, was ecstatic to hear the latest news of Carter’s deal that he even had to show his love for the former Mountaineer.

Carter becomes one of six latest offseason transactions made by the Suns. The 2020-21 NBA season is expected to start on December 22, 2020.
