Investigation continues into fatal hit and run in McDowell County

WELCH, W.Va. — Investigators with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Department say they have developed a suspect in a hit and run accident which claimed the life of a toddler on Thanksgiving night.

The two-year old boy was struck along the road in the community of Three Forks near Bradshaw about 5:30 in the evening. The driver failed to stop and continued toward Buchanan County, Virginia. The youngster died later that evening at an area hospital.

Authorities say with the help of the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department they’ve been able to locate a suspected driver and are awaiting completion of forensic evidence tests by the State Police Crime Lab.
