Jeffery Pooler Jr. opts to return for fifth season of eligibility

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia’s defensive line will welcome back one of their key contributors in 2021. Senior Jeffery Pooler Jr. has decided to return to Morgantown for a fifth season of eligibility this fall.

Pooler has elected to use an additional year of eligibility afforded to all athletes due to the COVID pandemic. He appeared in every game this year for the Mountaineers, making 23 tackles. Pooler finished fifth on the WVU roster with six tackles for loss and he also had three sacks.

The Dayton, Ohio native redshirted in his freshman season in 2016. He has played in 38 games as a Mountaineer, and has amassed 52 tackles.

Pooler and Dante Stills will return as starters on West Virginia’s defensive line and Freshman All-America selection Akheem Mesidor will be back as well. Cornerback Alonzo Addae and kicker Evan Staley have announced they will return to use the additional year of eligibility.
