Berkeley County man sentenced to 41 months in prison after taking donations

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Berkeley County man was sentenced to more than three years in prison for defrauding donors of a for-profit entity.

Christopher T. Engle, 30, pleaded guilty last year to wire fraud related to his actions supervising Hearts2Heros, which was advertised as a group that created care packages for deployed service members. Engle was the organization’s co-owner.

Engle, a resident of Bunker Hill, admitting to using donations for personal use. The total loss to the organization is $286,959.95.

Engle was sentenced to 41 months in prison. He will also have to pay restitution for the money he took from the organization.
