DHHR: COVID hospitalizations hit lowest mark in 4 months

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — COVID-19 hospitalizations fell to their lowest point since Oct. 27, 2020 in numbers reported Saturday by the state Department of Health and Human Resources.

There are currently 237 people hospitalized with COVID-19 statewide, including 65 patients in ICU, the lowest level since Oct. 21, 2020.

Active cases checked in at 7,486, the lowest since Nov. 9, 2020. Daily reduction in active cases has how stretched for six consecutive weeks.

No counties were red Saturday on the COVID-19 daily alert map.

The DHHR did report 346 new cases Saturday with a daily positivity test rate of 3.79%.

There were also six deaths added Saturday including an 83-year old female from Raleigh County, a 76-year old female from Wood County, a 55-year old female from Raleigh County, a 71-year old male from Kanawha County, a 79-year old male from Lewis County and a 47-year old male from Kanawha County.

Total COVID-19 deaths are now at 2,297.

The number of residents fully vaccinated has moved past 194,000 with another 103,000 residents who have received one shot.
