CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Active COVID-19 cases numbers and hospitalizations due to the virus continued on a downward trend Thursday in the daily report by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR).
Active cases reported on Thursday equaled 6,318, the lowest total since 6,135 on November 5. This figure has been lowering since early January when the state had nearly 30,000 active cases.
The DHHR added 261 new cases of the virus in the past 24 hours. The daily positivity test rate is 2.69%.
No new deaths were reported as the statewide death total remains at 2,309.
Hospitalizations due to the virus sit at 193, the lowest since 193 was the total on October 22. There are 57 patients in the ICU due to the virus.
202,401 West Virignia citizens have been fully vaccinated from the virus. 307, 532 total number of first doses have been administered.
