MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — After a 1-2 week, the WVU men’s basketball team has slipped four spots in both national polls. The Mountaineers (18-8, 11-6 Big 12) check in a No. 10 in the AP and No. 9 in the coaches poll.
Junior forward Derek Culver has been named a first team All-Big 12 selection. Culver leads the conference in rebounding at 9.8 boards per game. He stands second on the Mountaineers in points per game (14.8) and is the team’s leading shot blocker. Culver is the first Mountaineer to earn first team honors since Jevon Carter in 2018. Juwan Staten won first team distinction in 2014 and 2015.
Sophomore guard Deuce McBride is a second team All-Big 12 pick. McBride is WVU’s leading scorer at 15.4 points per game. He is also the team leader in assists (121) and is second in the conference with 46 steals.
Junior guard Sean McNeil and senior guard Taz Sherman are All-Big 12 honorable mention selections.
Senior forward Gabe Osabuohien has been named to the league’s All-Defensive team. Fairmont Senior grad Jalen Bridges is a member of the All-Freshman team.
