Grafton man indicted for May 2020 murder

TAYLOR COUNTY, W.Va. — A Taylor County grand jury has indicted a Grafton man for allegedly killing his girlfriend’s father.

Nicholas Padron, 28, is accused of killing 50-year-old Michael Blackburn last May. Padron also severed Blackburn’s head.

“We did an autopsy today and we’re fairly sure the victim was dead before the head was severed,” Taylor County Sheriff Terry Austin told MetrNews affiliate WAJR-AM.

A motive for the crime is unclear; Austin said Padron had recently moved from Texas to Taylor County. He, his girlfriend and her children lived with Blackburn.
