Man dies in Fairmont fire

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — A man died in a house fire in Fairmont late Wednesday morning.

The blaze was reported in the 800 block of Locust Ave. at just before noon. One woman was able to escape the home and a neighbor helped another resident out.

Authorities said a man and several pets did not survive the blaze.

One firefighter was injured.

No damage estimates were immediately available. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
