One dead in Wood County fire

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — The West Virginia State Fire Marshal is involved in the investigation of a fatal fire in Parkersburg from Friday.

The victim was discovered in the ashes of a mobile home fire after the flames were out Friday morning. Fire crews arrived to find the trailer fully engulfed at a mobile home park on Pickering Street in south Parkersburg.

The body of the victim was sent to the state Medical Examiner for an autopsy and positive identification.

The fire was reported around 4:30 a.m. Friday. A cause is not known.
