WVU loses another starter to the transfer portal as Jeffrey Pooler departs

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Months after announcing that he was taking advantage of an extra year of eligibility afforded to student-athletes due to the pandemic, defensive lineman Jeffrey Pooler posted on his Twitter site that he is entering the NCAA transfer portal.

On January 18, Pooler announced he would return for a fifth season of eligibility in Morgantown. He is the third returning defensive starter to leave WVU this offseason. Safety Tykee Smith has transferred to Georgia and cornerback Dreshun Miller is now at Auburn.

The Dayton, Ohio native redshirted in his freshman season in 2016. Pooler played in 38 games as a Mountaineer, and has amassed 52 tackles.
