CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources on Tuesday reported 344 new cases of Covid 19. The daily positivity rate was 4.97 percent.
Nine additional deaths were reported today, pushing the state’s pandemic total to 2.695.
There are 7,140 active cases in the state which was a slight drop from Monday.
The vaccination data on Tuesday showed 36 percent of state residents fully vaccinated and 44 percent have had at least one shot. There’s still a push to get young people to get a shot.
The hospitalizations on Monday stood at 214 with 71 in Intensive care.
The daily alert system map shows Wane, Wirt, and Berkeley County in red for the highest level of transmission. Boone, Gilmer, Hardy, Jackson, Mingo, Morgan, Nicholas, Putnam, Raleigh, and Wetzel County would also be red under the alternative metrics. Although the color coded map isn’t often used for school determinations anymore, the agency still updates the map daily to help keep track of the level of spread in each community.
