CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Active COVID-19 cases have dropped by just more than 700 in the past week.
The state Department of Health and Human Resources reported Tuesday active cases stood at 6,077 down 703 in the past week. Overall active cases were at 6,077 Tuesday.
The last time the state was under 6,000 active cases was March 25.
There was one new death reported by the DHHR Tuesday. The Jefferson County female resident was 87..
“We offer our deepest sympathy as our state grieves another loss,” DHHR Secretary Bill Crouch said.
Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 are now at 208, the lowest since there were a similar number of patients on March 27.
The DHHR reported Tuesday that 54.3 percent of the state’s eligible population age 12 and older have been fully vaccinated against the virus.
