DHHR reports only a few new COVID-19 cases, deaths in latest numbers

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The state Department of Health and Human Resources reported 71 new COVID-19 cases and two additional deaths in information released Thursday.

There are now 2,521 active cases. Total deaths are now at 2,863. The two additional deaths were that of a 68-year-old woman from Raleigh County and 56-year-old man from Barbour County.

”Each life lost to this disease is a tragedy,” DHHR Secretary Bill Crouch said. “We send our thoughts and sympathies to the families and encourage all West Virginians ages 12 and older to schedule a COVID-19 vaccine.”
