Investigation continues into double fatal fire in Hampshire County

CAPON BRIDGE, W.Va. — The state Fire Marshal’s Office says the cause of a double fatal fire last weekend in Hampshire County is currently undetermined.

Last Saturday’s blaze claimed the lives of Robert Lovett, 81, and his wife Virginia Lovette, 80, of Capon Bridge.

Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Nathan Sions said there was heavy smoke coming from the house when firefighters arrived on scene at about 12:30 p.m. They found the couple a few minutes later.

Investigators with the state Fire Marshal’s Office are awaiting autopsy results as part of an ongoing investigation.
