WVU nets second 4-star recruit in consecutive days as Justin Williams commits

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The WVU coaching staff has secured verbal commitments from 4-star recruits on back-to-back days. Running back Justin Williams announced his intention to become a Mountaineer Monday afternoon.

Williams is a 6-foot, 200-pound running back from East Paulding High School in Dallas, Ga. In his junior season, Williams accounted for 1,763 yards from scrimmage (1,477 rushing). He also scored 19 touchdowns.

Williams received a scholarship offer from West Virginia on January 12. He visited Morgantown last month and also took June visits to Louisville and Nebraska. Williams’ offer list includes ‘Power 5’ programs in Arkansas, Duke, Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan State, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh, USC, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. He also holds offers from Princeton and Yale of the Ivy League.

WVU has secured verbal commitments from a trio of 4-star recruits in recent weeks with quarterback Nicco Marchiol and cornerback Jacolby Spells joining the Class of 2022. Williams is the third 4-star running back to commit to WVU in the last two seasons. Jaylen Anderson and Justin Johnson signed in the Class of 2021. Williams is the 12th verbal commitment in next year’s class.
