Cabell Midland grad Madison Jeffrey 1 of 2 WVU pitchers drafted by the Dodgers

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Four WVU pitchers were selected by National League West franchises over the final two days of the Major League Baseball Draft. After Jackson Wolf (4th round) and Ryan Bergert (6th round) were taken by the Padres on Tuesday, Madison Jeffrey and Adam Tulloch received calls from the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Jeffrey, a Cabell Midland High School graduate, was drafted in the 15th round with the 462nd pick. Tulloch followed shortly after in the 17th round with the 522nd selection.

Jeffrey finished 2-2 with a 6.75 ERA in 18 appearances out of the bullpen for the Mountaineers in 2021. In 20 innings of work, he struck out 28 and tallied four saves, good for a share of the team lead. He has spent the past two months competing with the West Virginia Black Bears in the Major League Baseball Draft League.

Tulloch went 0-4 with a 6.27 ERA at West Virginia last spring. A transfer from the College of Central Florida, he made 13 appearances in his lone season at WVU in 2021, including eight starts.

WVU has had eight pitchers selected over the last three MLB drafts. If Jeffrey and Tulloch elect to sign with the Dodgers, they will join fellow former WVU pitcher Michael Grove in the L.A. farm system.
