CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia topped 1,500 active COVID-19 cases for the first time since June 26 Monday with the state Department of Health and Human Resources confirming 1,567 active cases.
The DHHR added 406 new cases in Monday’s report. The state reported no new COVID-19 deaths Monday. Deaths stand at 2,936.
New cases of the virus have outdistanced recovered cases by 452 during the past week.
According to the DHHR, COVID-19 hospitalizations were at 96 Monday, nearing 100 patients for the first time since June 17.
Updated vaccination numbers show 67.7% of those over the age of 12 in West Virginia have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 56.2% have been fully vaccinated.
