Deputies: Young child dies after being struck by vehicle

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department said a one-year-old child died Tuesday after being struck by a car.

Deputies were dispatched to the North Hills area near Route 705 at around 3:20 p.m. They said when they arrived on the scene they learned the child had already been transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

Deputies said the toddler was struck when a vehicle pulled off a public road to a private drive.

The investigation is ongoing. No names have been released.
