Active COVID-19 cases drop slightly following Saturday’s numbers

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Active COVID-19 cases dropped slightly in numbers reported Saturday by the state Department of Health and Human Resources.

Active cases are now at 16,015 which represents a drop of 198 cases from Friday’s report.

The DHHR reported no new COVID deaths Saturday. Overall deaths remained at 3,523.

There were 1,758 new cases confirmed in the past 24 hours.

Hospitalizations dropped to 977 Saturday. That number was 1,008 on Friday.

More than 2,500 residents received COVID-19 vaccinations Friday.

Gov. Jim Justice’s next coronavirus briefing is scheduled for Monday.
