WVU student enters guilty plea in sexual assault case

GRAFTON, W.Va. — A West Virginia University student on Wednesday pleaded guilty to third-degree sexual assault related to having sex with two 14-year-old females last year.

Robert Korleski, 22, of Simpsonville, South Carolina admitted to meeting one teenager online. The female, who is from Grafton, and a friend later met Korleski in December 2020. Korleski drove the females to a gravel road near Maple Avenue and had sex with both teens.

Korleski faces up to 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $20,000.

Nineteenth Circuit Court Judge Alan Moats ordered Korleski to register as a lifetime sex offender within the next three business days. Korleski will also be subject to a supervised release period of between two and 50 years.

Taylor County Prosecutor John Bord will make a sentencing recommendation after the presentence investigation is complete.
