Gov. Jim Justice, first lady Cathy Justice and Babydog were at the Charleston Rod Run and Doo Wop festival Friday night to hand over the keys of a Corvette to SSgt Michael Beall.

Beall, who serves on the firefighting team at the Martinsburg-based 167th Airlift Wing, thought he was coming to Charleston for a ceremony to honor first responders, instead he won the car.

The blue 2021 Corvette was met with crowd approval as those with their classic vehicles at the festival gathered around Haddad Riverfront Park for Justice’s announcement.

The last round of Babydog prizes including full-ride college scholarships will be announced next week.
