Unit at Clarksburg VA facility closed following reports over patient care

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — The Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center has closed its medical surgical unit after reports regarding patient care.

According to health care officials, leaders found two reports during an Oct. 8 review. The health care facility did not share the details of the report.

Following the discovery of the reports, 32 nurses were reassigned to other units. Patients have been either discharged, moved to other units or transferred to other veterans facilities.

The Administrative Board of Investigation will conduct an investigation on the care being offered.
